We gather under the label Village Health Services a variety of services designed to make the life of our villagers easier, more comfortable and safer. Our goal is to help our villagers age in the preferred place longer without leaving their residence. The Village Health Services team provides some of these services directly and helps coordinate many other services with dependable local providers. We are placing an emphasis on bringing providers onto campus for the convenience of our villagers and to reduce the need for off campus transportation.
Village Health Nursing
The sheer size of our community enables us to keep our Village Health Nurses available to villagers during extensive hours, seven days a week, ready to provide services such as health-related assessments, first aid, and medication assistance. They perform emergency response visits for falls, cold symptoms, general malaise, vertigo, chest pains, respiratory distress, etc. In addition, they follow up and check on villagers during or following illness, injury or hospitalization, to ensure that needs are identified and addressed.
For a moderate additional fee, they will perform treatments including wound care, dressing changes, injections, medication administration, eye drops or other topical medication application, blood glucose monitoring, as well as medication management.
Village Health Navigators
Both of the Navigators are Social Workers, trained and knowledgeable about various supportive services that are available to our villagers. Those services may be CKV-based, or provided by outside agencies or organizations. The goal of the Village Health Navigators is to provide support and guidance to villagers who may be experiencing some challenges when it comes to “aging in place” in their residential home. Once needs are identified, we help with obtaining resources on campus and in the wider community. The team also helps coordinate when villagers need to transition to Personal Care, Brookside, or Health Care.
