These Marylanders “wanted to enjoy life” and move into a retirement community early enough to do that. One visit to Cross Keys, and they said, “This is it.” The friendliness of the villagers and the quality of the amenities convinced them that, “we could be happy here.” Helen uses her sewing ability to repair items for Personal Care residents, where she appreciates the social interaction as well as the volunteer opportunity. Kathy

After her hip replacement, Kathy started thinking about living on one level. She visited her aunt at Cross Keys but still shopped around widely before deciding this was “the best value for me,” with everything working better financially than in her native New Jersey. She needed room for her hobbies and her cats and found that in her apartment. “The biggest blessing,” she says, “is knowing that, instead of having to call the plumber, call the electrician, call the others, I was going to have people come promptly and with a smile on their faces.” Listen to what she has to say...

Anna & Bob

From Western Pennsylvania, their first moved to York but came to Cross Keys when they decided to trade a larger home and its maintenance problems for a more carefree lifestyle. They looked at a dozen communities before making their decision. “We probably should have done it (move to Cross Keys) a couple of years sooner,” Bob says. Anna is a gardener and loves the space she has for her hobby. Both were swayed by the friendliness of the villagers they met while staying on campus. Avid walkers and very active, they also appreciate the opportunity to “sit home and be a couch potato and read your book” when that’s the day’s ideal activity. Listen to what they have to say...
