Wellbrook Adult Day Services
A Secure and Wholesome day…
and a Well-deserved Break, Too
The past few years have seen a strong increase in the amount of responsibilities that fall upon family caregivers. Hard working individuals – especially women – are torn between their jobs, the demands of raising children, and duties towards their elders (be they parents or in-laws). Many juggle these responsibilities at the expense of their own life balance. As a result, selfless adult children are at high risk for caregiver burnout, a serious blend of fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression, which can damage a household’s dynamics dramatically and durably.
Wellbrook is a day program open to anyone over the age of 18 who needs some degree of supervision. The program is designed to combine health services and social activities in order to help individuals stay mentally and physically active, reduce isolation, and prevent decline. A typical day includes exercise, lunch, snacks, crafts, games, baking, music, and pet visits, as well as assistance with bathing, bathroom, ambulation, and medication administration. This stimulating calendar of activities takes place within a single secure environment: a Cross Keys Village residential cottage which was specially reconfigured for this new use. As an additional benefit, the program offers family caregivers a reliable and affordable solution to the overlapping demands in their own schedule.
