Personal Care

Our fully licensed Personal Care services feature four different lifestyle options for those who still want to live as independently as possible but need varying levels of assistance. These “neighborhoods” allow you to create the lifestyle level that’s best for you or your loved one.

“The Brethren beliefs drive the way you are treated.”
- Carolyn C.

“I have had family in other nursing homes. The difference with PC is the staff cares about their residents.”
- John K.

Financial flexibility

Besides the four levels of care and service offered in Personal Care, we also have seven different room sizes, so we can match different levels of need and financial ability.

Although this is a private pay program, Cross Keys Village has a commitment to offer financial support for those residents who outlive their personal resources paying for their stay. Residents also have priority access to campus long term services.

“I value my independence. No one is telling me what to do here – I decide.”
- Regina G.

The social life

For many seniors, life starts to decline when it seems there’s nothing to do. Personal Care at Cross Keys provides a wide variety of structured and impromptu activities.  In addition, we encourage resident driven activities which build personal relationships between neighbors.

Our Community Life team offers exercise classes in our fitness center, trips to the community’s pool, Wii bowling league, social events, sing-a-longs, group table games, cards, puzzles.  We host a variety of entertainers from the community. Residents enjoy group outings, lunches out, including rides on campus in Personal Care’s all-weather, touring-sized golf cart.

“We have more variety in our activities; other places are not as exciting. We have entertainment, outings, and fun.”
- Thelma B.

The CCRC advantage

Personal Care residents at Cross Keys Village have the added advantage of being part of one of the region’s largest Continuing Care Retirement Communities (also called CCRCs). This means that independent “retirement” living, personal care and both long- and short-term skilled nursing are available on the same campus.

At Cross Keys, Personal Care residents who require rehabilitation following surgery or an injury have topnotch services available in the adjoining building. The proximity to long-term care nursing can be a comfort to spouses when one has to seek long-term nursing care; the other remains close by.

Being part of a large organization like Cross Keys also offers facilities not always available in stand-alone homes: a beauty shop, gift shop, wellness/fitness center, spiritual/worship center, transportation, etc. The same holds for the many activities planned for the entire community – there’s much more to do!

“The staff are more caring than other places I have been to visit.”
- Mabel G.

For your health

Nursing support at Cross Keys is available 24 hours every day. Doctors call on residents on-site, and all of the resources of our 270-bed skilled nursing home are in the adjoining building.

“The tender loving care. If I need anything, I know they will do their best to help me. I never hear, ‘I don’t have time to help you.’”
- Regina G.

Strength in heritage and finance

Personal Care at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community has been licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as a personal care home since 1988. During that time its record in annual licensure inspections has been one of minimal or no violations. It has enjoyed stable leadership and staffing.

Personal Care also benefits from being part of one of the state’s most financially strong and stable Continuing Care Retirement Communities, maintaining an “A-“ credit rating from Standard & Poors.

“My mother has been a part of CKV for over 10 years. The staff in all service areas go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Whether they know you or not, they smile and say ‘hi.’”
- Gary W.
