Building dedication completed
with ‘Naming Ceremony’
A thunderstorm ended the May 29 dedication ceremony for the Harmony Ridge West Apartments and Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center before the program was completed, and because the unfinished business included the spiritual element, a “Naming Ceremony” was held on July 16 to complete the job.
The Cross Keys Board of Directors and a number of villagers, team members and guests totaling about 50 took part in the second event. Joe Detrick, District Executive for the Southern Pennsylvania District, Church of the Brethren, led a “litany of dedication” (see below), and Harvey S. Kline spoke to a number of issues related to the new facility and the greater community.

Litany of Dedication
One: Today we are thankful for the rich and vibrant heritage of Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community. We celebrate its second century of compassionate care and service to older women and men while remaining faithful to its mission and core values.
All: Today we are thankful for all people - those who live here, those who work here, those who volunteer and those who visit. We are thankful for the uniqueness of this community that springs forth from a caring team of staff members who respect human life and are committed to providing quality service.
One: Today we gather to dedicate the Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center. We are thankful for the foresight and generosity of such persons who love the Lord, and serve the church in gratitude and love. We are thankful to all the donors whose support of our mission has made this project possible.
All: As we dedicate the Wellness Center, we also re-commit ourselves to the wellness and the nurturing of the mind, body, and spirit of every villager and resident, every team member and volunteer, every friend and guest who graces this facility.
One: We also dedicate the Harmony Ridge West Apartments - providing a new level of retirement living for those who choose to join our community.
All: May these new apartments and the new Community Center provide a fellowship of warmth and care for all residents. May the hallways, meeting spaces, and activity rooms provide meaningful connections for each resident - conversations of care and concern, opportunities for new friends and relationships.
One: Finally, we are thankful for the ongoing partnership of the Brethren Home Community and the District of Southern Pennsylvania. May this partnership in ministry and mission within Southern District continue to flourish.
All: Today, as we dedicate these new facilities, let us also reaffirm our commitment to the mission of Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home community as a vessel for Christian ministry reflecting the Church of the Brethren value of compassionate service . . . to individuals of all faiths. May all that we do and say bring glory to God and to our neighbors good.
