Construction Update: Early May

It’s hard to believe the walls are rising as quickly as they are, but the second floor of the Harmony Ridge West Apartments is almost complete, and it’s nearly time for the crane to lay the concrete floor planks atop that level to set stage for the final floor to take shape.

Meanwhile, things have gone down as well as up. The excavated pool area now has the beginnings of framing that will support the concrete that will be poured for the pool itself.

See the latest photos below (and check out the April update as well, because some of the photos there were a little late being posted), and check regularly for “live” progress via our two webcams that survey the building site every five seconds.

Workers begin preparations for pouring the concrete for the Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center pool.

More block is delivered to the second floor, where the walls are rising quickly.

At the west end of the apartments, the second floor exterior walls are all but complete. The floor planks come next, then the walls of the top floor.

Construction Update: April

The weather is warming up and the pace of construction is heating up at the Harmony Ridge West Apartments and Harvey S. Kline Wellness Center construction site.

With the ground floor walls completed for the apartments, the crane went into action again and hoisted the concrete planks into place for the second floor. Meanwhile, the pool area was excavated in the wellness center.

Detail work also progressed. The ground-floor apartment patios, and the interior spaces in the wellness center and community center expansion took shape. Concrete trucks were a constant presence on campus, as were trucks hauling block and other building materials.

More and more future residents can now see where their apartments will be.

A couple of days were lost to rain, but the pace quickens whenever the weather allows; the official “mid-point” of the project is expected to be late this summer.

See below for a sampling of the building activity.

The above photos were taken in mid-May – with the help of Brechbill & Helman Construction Company. They show just the flooring planks in pace for the second floor of the apartments and some second-floor walls beginning to rise. The block walls for the spaces in the wellness center are nearing completion as well.

Another flooring plank is put into place

Taken just a bit earlier than those shot from above, these photos the last flooring planks being put into place, while work begins on the interior spaces of the wellness center.

In the photos above, you can see one of the massive concrete floor planks lifted from its delivery flatbed, hoisted to its place on the second floor, trimmed to fit its space, and put into place.
