Prodigal Sons to perform Fine Arts Concert at Cross Keys Village on Saturday, Oct. 3
A gospel group whose singing leans toward barbershop style will be in the Nicarry Meetinghouse at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community when the Prodigal Sons perform a free, public concert on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m.
The Prodigal Sons sing primarily – but not exclusively – gospel music. Their repertoire also includes spirituals, sacred music and more. This actually is the group’s second incarnation. They were organized in 1988 as an outgrowth of a production of the musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” and they performed together for 10 years. Three years ago some members reorganized the group, with six singers making up the current ensemble.
The group performed at the 2008 Chicken Barbecue on campus.
The Fine Arts Concert Series at Cross Keys receives support from the Brethren Home Auxiliary. The next event in the Fine Arts Concert Series will be The Mendelssohn Piano Trio on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
