Brengle and Horneff to present
four-hand piano duet concert
CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – Pianists Peggy Brengle and Don Horneff will present a four-hand piano duet concert on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
The performance is free and open to the public.
In a four-hand concert, the performers play together on the same instrument. This performance will include three Spanish Dances by European composer-pianist Moritz Moskowski, who created that work specifically for four hands on the piano.
Also on the program will be selections from Beethoven’s Sonate, Opus 6, which probably was written for four hands as a teaching piece for the composer’s students.
Works by Rachmaninoff, George and Ira Gershwin, Johann Strauss, Judith Lang Zaimont and Ernesto Lecuona also will be performed.
Brengle is the media resource specialist for the Carroll County Public Schools Office of Library Media Services and a frequent performer in four-hand recitals. She also is an accompanist and a member of the Westminster Ringers community handbell choir, which has performed at Cross Keys in the past.
Horneff has taught piano, harpsichord and electronic music at McDaniel College for 15 years, has a piano tuning and repair service, is organist-accompanist at Westminster United Methodist Church, and has performed widely with the group Music by Just Us and in the Chamber Music on the Hill series at McDaniel.
Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle.
