The historic Jardine Organ at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community will be the focus of a holiday concert performed by Jonathan Noel, music director and organist at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in York.
That instrument that has spent time on both coasts of the United States—it once belonged to the University of Washington – and it was rebuilt and enlarged in 1983. Three concerts celebrate its presence at Cross Keys each year.
Village Choir Christmas Cantata
Friday, December 19, 2:00 p.m.
The Village Choir will perform “How Great Our Joy,” a cantata by Lloyd Larson and Douglas E. Wagner. This work features familiar carols and original music with scripture-based narration. The Rev. Betty Malenke directs the choir.
York Symphony Chamber Singers
Saturday, December 20, 7:00 p.m.
For 26 years, this ensemble has brought the finest in sacred and secular music of all types to audiences throughout the Northeast, from St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York to Longwood Gardens and the National Institutes of Health. Most selections are sung a cappella, and songs from America’s rich musical heritage are prominent.
The concert is the last in the 2008 Fine Arts Concert Series at Cross Keys.
