Sand Trap Brass to give Fine Arts Concert
October 18
The Sand Trap Brass will perform a free, public concert on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse. The event is part of the 2008 Fine Arts Concert Series at Cross Keys.
The members of the Sand Trap Brass describe themselves as a “musical golf foursome of two trumpets, trombone and tuba, with their caddie on drums.”
Musicians Bill School and Greg Ruth (trumpets), David Wenerd (trombone), Ben Jones (tuba) and Dan White (drums) play Dixieland, popular tunes, old standards, and marches. They have performed throughout the area at events of all kinds, from weddings to – yes – golf outings.
The Fine Arts Concert Series at Cross Keys receives support from the Brethren Home Auxiliary. This performance replaces one with the Gettysburg College Children’s Choir, which was cancelled due to a schedule conflict. The next Fine Arts Series event will feature the Red Rose City Chorus on Saturday, Nov. 29.
Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed from off campus via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
