Neighborhood Coordinators named for Health Care Center at Cross Keys Village

CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – Four team members with varying levels of experience at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community have been named to the newly created Neighborhood Coordinator positions in the Health Care Center.

Those in the new positions will take the lead in ensuring person-centered quality care in the HCC neighborhoods; modeling customer service; promoting empowerment of residents and their families; coordinating neighborhood community events; and coaching, collaborating with other team members, and championing team-building among all staff members on the neighborhood team and beyond.

HCC Operations Administrator Amanda Chase will be the senior coordinator and will be responsible for the Somerset neighborhood. She has been working in a similar capacity with Somerset for several months. The new coordinators are:

Cheryl Ditzler, a 20-year team member in Campus Dining who began as an entry-level kitchen worker and most recently led development of the Neighborhood Dining Program.

Ruth Shenberger, a former nursing assistant who became a unit secretary and then administrative assistant for Facility Maintenance. She has been at Cross Keys for 11 years.

Susan Kirby, the Village Live Coordinator at Cross Keys for the last four years who has extensive experience managing volunteers and working in retirement/nursing organizations.

Jen Twyman, an LPN, Care Leader, for the past two years and a nurse for nine years with a longtime interest in senior care. She aspires to earn a Nursing Home Administrators license.

The neighborhood coordinators began their new positions in late July.

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community, which is celebrating its centennial in 2008, provides long- and short-term nursing care to more than 250 individuals in one of the area’s largest nursing facilities. The campus also includes independent retirement living, assisted living, and adult day services and serves some 900 people in all service lines.

It is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys) and is one of the area’s largest employers with more than 600 full- and part-time team members.
