The 2006 Good Samaritan Walk-a-thon will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 6-7 on the Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community campus. The event begins Friday with the annual "Roller Division" - or what area businesses refer to as "Feel Good Friday" - when corporate/business volunteers helpt to escort wheelchair-bound Residents around campus and then accompany them for a social gathering with musical entertainment. Nearly 100 Residents took part and 30 area corporate/business volunteers helped out.
The main Walk-a-thon begins at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Walkers of all ages, shapes, and sizes will walk a three-mile primary course or a less demanding alternate course. This is a walk in which participants, unselfishly collect pledges beforehand for their participation, with the proceeds benefiting the Good Samaritan Fund.
