A Monarch prepares to take flight during the 2011 Butterfly Release

Get Ready for the Butterfly Release

The 5th Annual Butterfly Release will take place on Saturday, May 19, beside the pond at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community. The program begins at 10:00 a.m. for this beautifully moving event, during which hundreds of Monarch butterflies are released and take flight.

This has become a true family activity. Children will enjoy face painting, activity bags and snacks. The alpacas will be returning this year. Musical highlights will be the Hanover High School Steel Drum Band and Show Choir – Fortissimo from the Emory H. Markle Intermediate School.

Individuals, groups and families have the meaningful opportunity to sponsor butterflies in honor or memory of loved ones, and they may release butterflies as well. Call The Brethren Home Foundation at 717-624-5208 for sponsorship opportunities or other information.
