Dave Gerber to retire July 1
Senior Vice President David K. Gerber has announced that he will retire July 1, ending more than 23 years as an executive officer at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
Gerber, who was a member of the Board of Directors before becoming a team member, was named Vice President of Finance in 1987. He later became Vice President of Operations, then served as Interim CEO from 2002-03, when he assumed his current title. He has been administrator for independent retirement living for the past four years.
“Dave has served this community long and well,” President/CEO Vernon King said, “and his willingness to take on responsibility wherever his talents were needed has been a blessing. He will be missed, but we wish him and Linda a long and fulfilling retirement.”
During Gerber’s tenure as a board member and an executive officer, Cross Keys has grown from a nursing home serving 164 residents to a continuing care retirement community with nearly 1,000 residents/villagers in independent living, personal care and nursing.
He also has been active as a board member of the Brethren Benefit Trust, and he chaired the Brethren Credit Union board. He has served on the Kairos Health Systems, and he has held a number of leadership positions at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, his home congregation.
His wife Linda is a former chaplain at Cross Keys.
