‘Roller Division” leaves everyone feelin’ good

CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – Originally a prelude to the annual Good Samaritan Walkathon, “Feel Good Friday” (or the “Roller Division” of the Walkathon) has become a hugely successful event in its own right, and it stands alone as a fall highlight for residents and volunteers, especially those from corporate entities that frequently partner with Cross Keys for fundraising and other projects.

This year about 20 representatives from Adams County National Bank, Bank of Hanover, Herbert, Roland & Grubic, Adecco, Rager, Lehman & Houck, Kiwinis and Rotary joined campus volunteers to escort scores of residents for a beautiful afternoon’s walk, followed by cookies and drinks at the pond. (New Oxford Elementary School students decorated paper bags for the goodies.)

The photos of residents with their escorts are sure to find places of honor in resident and volunteer homes for some time to come.

For more information about “Feel Good Friday” or other events conducted by The Brethren Home Foundation, contact Kerry Miller at 717-624-5208 or k.miller@crosskeysvillage.org.

“And they’re off!” Human Resources Team Member Melanie Storm rolls James Brower of Honey Brook away at the head of the first line of Feel Good Friday participants.

All the corporate volunteers are invaluable for their Feel Good Friday participation, but special recognition goes to Brian Adair of Adams County National Bank and Peggy Miller of Herberg, Rowland & Grubic, the only volunteers who have taken part in the event every year. In these photos, Adair is shown with Woodbury resident Margaret Miller, while Peggy Miller poses with Mildred Hoffacker of Peace Valley.
