Flutist Lori Elliott, organist Shirley King to perform in Jardine Concert Series at Cross Keys Village, December 16

CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – Flutist Lori Elliott will join organist Shirley King for a free, public concert of Advent and Christmas music at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2:00pm in the Nicarry Meetinghouse.

The event is part of the Jardine Organ Concert Series, which highlights the rare, 138-year-old Jardine organ at Cross Keys. That instrument that has spent time on both coasts of the United States-it once belonged to the University of Washington - and it was rebuilt and enlarged in 1983 when it belonged to York Hospital.

Elliott and King will feature selections by American organists Charles Callahan and Lani Smith.

Elliott studied under Robert C. Snyder at Eastern Illinois University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She is a member of the National Flute Association and the Harrisburg Musical Association, Local No. 269, and she is president of the Carlisle Musical Arts Club. She is an active member of the Harrisburg Wednesday Club, the Harrisburg Concert Band, and the West Shore Symphony, of which she is secretary of the board. Besides performing widely, she teaches private flute lessons.

King, who coordinates the Jardine Organ Series at Cross Keys, is Director of Advising at Dickinson, and an adjunct faculty member in organ and harpsichord. She was an organ professor and recitalist in the Midwest, where she performed with the Wichita Symphony and other organizations. She serves on the executive board of the American Guild of Organists, New York-Pennsylvania chapter.

Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford's town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
