Ken Lelen Trio to perform “vintage” music at Cross Keys Village on November 10

CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – The sounds of ragtime, jazz and swing music will fill Nicarry Meetinghouse on Saturday, Nov. 10, when the Ken Lelen Trio performs a free, public concert at 7 p.m. at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.

Accompanied by Bill Dominick on fiddle and Matt Koch on bass, Lelen sings and plays rare vintage acoustic guitars – he owns instruments built as early as 1908 and no more recently than 1956. The guitars produce music that is striking for its character, tone and sustain, all without the use of electric pick-ups.

The guitars also match the songs the Lelen Trio will perform.

“People of all ages love these songs,” Lelen says. “They’re pleasantly surprised by the robust sound and classy look of vintage guitars.”

Lelen performs more than 100 vintage music concerts each year, but the full Ken Lelen Trio only joins him for a handful of those performances.

Their performance at Cross Keys is the next-to-last in the 2007 Fine Arts Concert Series. The Keystone Brass Quinted will close the year’s series with a concert on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
