Interim Director Named for Volunteer Services

Phyllis Simpson has been named Interim Director of Volunteer Services at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.

Simpson succeeds Kathy Margush, who retired after 10 years of service. A search for a permanent replacement has begun.

A 20-year employee at Cross Keys, Simpson’s primary responsibility is Clinical Manager of the Therapeutic Activities Department, which interacts regularly with volunteers. She is Activity Director Certified through the NCCAP and has experience as a grief counselor for hospice, a Girl Scout leader, a Church Consistory member and Sunday School teacher, and she is president of the Ladies Society and a choir member at her church.

She has served on many committees at Cross Keys, including one that set up the palliative care program in the Health Care Center.

Corinne Peterson, a staff member in the Brethren Home Foundation office, will provide support to Volunteer Services on a part-time basis.
