2007 Fine Arts Concert Series CROSS KEYS/NEW OXFORD, PA – Pianos, guitars, bells and bodhrans will make music in Nicarry Meetinghouse this year in the 2007 Fine Arts Concert Series at Cross Keys Village The Brethren Home Community. The eight-event series, sponsored by The Brethren Home Auxiliary, brings musicians to perform for Cross Keys residents but also is open to the public. The performances are free, and all are held on Saturdays, beginning at 7 p.m. Cormorant’s Fancy will be featured in the first concert on March 10. Characterized as “Central Pennsylvania’s busiest Irish/Celtic band,” the group has been performing since 2003 and was the closing act for last year’s Adams County Irish Festival. The band performs a variety of songs, accompanying them on guitar, mountain dulcimer, bodhran, keyboards, whistles and other instruments. Bells take center stage when the Hershey Handbell Ensemble presents the second Fine Arts Series performance on April 28. The 14-member community group performs sacred and secular music. Shawn Gingrich, director of music ministry for First United Methodist Church of Hershey, directs the ensemble, most of whose members also perform with church handbell choirs or other community groups. Jazz pianist Joe Holt performs hundreds of times each year as a solo artist, a member of a larger group, or an accompanist. He also hosts a Philadelphia-area radio program and is a music therapist. He will perform at Cross Keys on May 19. Jay Smar will sing “old-time” country and coal-mining songs when he performs on June 21. A fiddler who also plays other finger- and flat-picked instruments, he has been touring for nearly 20 years. Other performers for 2007 are:
