Mourning Glory’ author Georgia Shaffer to speak Friday, September 25, at Cross Keys Village

Georgia ShafferGloria Shaffer, who overcame devastating personal tragedies to become a life coach who helps others deal with their difficulties, will speak on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse as part of the Good Samaritan Speaker Series. The program will benefit the Health Care Center’s Palliative Care Program for residents who are at the end of their life’s journey.

Shaffer is the author of The Gift of Mourning Glories – Restoring Your Life After Loss, as well as other books, and she hosts a syndicated radio feature, “The Mourning Glory Minute.” She is a licensed psychologist and lives outside Lancaster.

In 1989, after a recurrence of breast cancer, Shaffer was given a 2% chance to be alive in 10 years. During the same time period, she experienced the devastating loss of her job and her marriage. She will share her personal experiences and inspire and encourage listeners to rebuild their lives after tragedy.

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
