Skye Terrier program set for April 25

“An Introduction to Skye Terriers and Dog Shows,” which will provide the history, origins and purpose of the Skye Terrier breed, will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 1:30 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.

The Skye Terrier takes its name from its original home on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Michael Pesare and Maida Connor will host the free, public program. Their Gleanntan Kennels has won major awards including “Best in Show – Best in Specialty Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club and other dog shows.

They will address:
  • What does it take to make an AKC Champion?
  • How are points awarded?
  • What is the value of the AKC Championship Title?
  • Why do responsible breeders seek AKC Championship Titles?

The presentation also will include a grooming demonstration and an “in the ring” judging demo – where you can choose your “winner.”

Attendees also will be able to meet a Skye Terrier or two and maybe even get a Skye “kiss.”

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle.
