Long-time favorites, the Gospel Travelers, to perform August 10 at Cross Keys Village

Gospel Travlers

The Gospel Travelers, who have been bringing God’s message of love and salvation to audiences throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania for more than three decades, will present a free, public concert on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.

The event will close out a weekend that also includes the 48th Annual Chicken Barbecue, Car Show & Auction on Saturday at the Cross Keys campus.

Known for their Southern-style Gospel, the Gospel Travelers perform at churches, festivals, revivals, reunions, nursing and retirement facilities, and restaurants. They began 34 years at a small church in Frederick, Maryland. The name referred to the amount of time the original members had to spend traveling for their rehearsals and performances.

That travel has never been an obstacle, though, and new members have come to the group as needed when others departed. A favorite verse from Scripture is, “He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. (Psalms 40:2).”

Their appearance is supported by Paul K. and Marlene Rudisill, who live at Cross Keys Village. A free-will offering will be taken; the concert will benefit the Good Samaritan Fund, which assists residents, primarily those in long-term nursing care and assisted living, who have exhausted their financial resources.

Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, at the western edge of the campus.
