Fine Arts Series: Craig Sunday Orchestra (Big Band)
7:00 p.m., Nicarry Meetinghouse
The “big band” sound will come to Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community on Saturday, June 19, when the Craig Sunday Orchestra performs a free, public concert at 7:00 p.m. in Nicarry Meetinghouse.
The concert is part of the 2010 Fine Arts Series, presented by the Brethren Home Community Auxiliary.
The 18-member Craig Sunday Orchestra is in its 10th year of performing big band music in the best swing era tradition. The orchestra features the music of the great bands of the swing era, with more than 50 original arrangements, including Tommy Dorsey’s “Marie,” Glenn Miller’s personal arrangement of “Moonlight Serenade” and “Sing, Sing, Sing,” as it was performed by Benny Goodman at Carnegie Hall in 1938.
Please note that seating is limited and is available on a first come, first served basis.
The next performance in the Fine Arts Series will be by the Elysian Camerata piano and string ensemble on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community is located at the intersection of U.S. 30 and PA 94 (Cross Keys), less than two miles east of New Oxford’s town circle. Nicarry Meetinghouse is best accessed via the Route 30 entrance, which is at the northwest corner of the campus. Directional signage is available at other entrances. Ample free parking is available.
